Our Mission

At Speech Bee it is our goal to help our clients meet their communication goals by providing comprehensive evaluations and evidence-based treatment.

We know that children learn best through caring and playful interaction in a natural setting. Speech Bee is a neurodiversity-affirming practice, committed to helping autistic and otherwise neurodivergent children achieve greater independence by honoring all methods of communication and providing early access to AAC. We do not use behavior modification techniques during therapy and instead, let each child’s individual strengths and interests drive therapy sessions.

We also believe in empowering parents and caregivers through collaboration and coaching- letting families take charge of therapy outcomes!

Meet the Team

  • Brenen Zey, MS, CCC-SLP

    CEO/SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Brenen is originally from Kansas City, MO. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and Disorders. In 2015, she earned a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO. In Fall of 2020, she completed an Assistive Technology Professional certificate through the University of Illinois- Chicago.

    Brenen specializes in early intervention, Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

    Brenen is available for home-based services in Foothill Ranch (Lake Forest) and surrounding areas.

  • Morgan Walstad, RN BSN

    PRACTICE MANAGER

    Morgan graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is an experienced Pediatric Research Nurse and Nurse Case Manager. She lives in Minnesota with her family and supports our Speech Bee team remotely!

    Morgan is in charge of day-to-day operations for the practice including client intake, billing, and scheduling.

  • Lauren Bainbridge, MA, CCC-SLP

    BILINGUAL SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Lauren has over 6 years of experience as an English/Spanish bilingual SLP. She is an experienced early interventionist who is passionate about family coaching, AAC, and providing neurodiversity-affirming care!

    Lauren is available for home-based services in North Park, South Park, National City, Chula Vista, and surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Jordyn Sheriff, MS, CCC-SLP

    SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Jordyn has been practicing since 2020 and is experienced in providing neurodiversity-affirming, child-led services to children from birth-16 years of age. She is a Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) trained therapist who also has experience in orofacial myology, feeding, early intervention, and AAC therapies.

    Jordyn recently relocated to San Diego from Hawaii with her family. She is available for home-based services in Poway, Mira Mesa, Sabre Springs, and surrounding areas.

  • Hensley Stanton, MS

    Hensley Stanton, MS

    Speech-Language Pathologist - RPE/Clinical Fellow

    Hensley graduated from Emerson College in 2023 with a Master of Science in Communication Disorders. Hensley will be joining Speech Bee as a full-time Clinical Fellow as she works towards completing her required professional experinece (RPE). Hensley has previous experience providing play-based, in-home services.

    Hensley and her family recently moved back to the Oceanside area after spending several years in her home state of Arkansas. She will be providing in-home services in Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, and surrounding communities.

  • Krystal Polovin, SLPA

    Krystal Polovin, SLPA

    Assistive Technology Assistant

    Krystal is a licensed Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) who previously worked with Speech Bee as a student and administrative assistant.

    Krystal lives in Stanislaus County and is a part-time Assistive Technology assistant and coordinator for the Voice Options program in Stanislaus County. She is currently accepting new consumers for the Voice Options program waitlist in the area.
